Despite what many people might think, there’s more to indie music than Jack White. There seems to be a growing legion of young persons today that are attracted to the indie music scene, but would rather not put any effort into actually… you know, listening to the music. Yes, yes; we all get a kick out of the lead singer from Kings of Leon’s voice, and yes, Death Cab For Cutie does have a peculiar name… we’re so indie, TOTALLY not mainstream. Well these people deserve a special rung in the deepest circle of hell, right next to people who dress up their animals in human clothing.
You see, there’s so much more to Indie Music than the bands big enough to get onto David Letterman regularly. There’s a wild world out there of crazy assholes who, sure, have a lot of crazy, asshole-y antics, but make KILLER music! And they’ll never get the recognition they deserve because… well they’re indie. That’s kind of the catch-22 of alt-rock… don’t worry, you’ll get it soon. What I’m saying is that, for you people who enjoy dipping your feet into the pool of indie music, but refuse to dive in head first to what’s probably the most fulfilling music genre today, be prepared to get WET when you read… Continue reading
